Cockpit Refit

S/Y Anatta—formerly Ahimsa, but still often mistakenly referred to as Aglaia—holds a special place in yachting history. When Aglaia was launched at 68m, it immediately cemented itself as possibly the most extraordinary yacht ever to grace the water. Designed by Dubois Yacht Design and built by Vitters Shipyard, her groundbreaking design turned the yachting world upside down, incorporating radical and innovative ideas, many of which were personally inspired by the owner.

In 2012, during an extensive refit in Palma de Mallorca, 3DT Solutions played an integral role in executing several significant changes on deck. Collaborating closely with BM Composites, we worked on multiple projects, with one of the most notable being the complete redesign of the retractable canopy roof. Using lightweight carbon battens and a custom track-and-slider system, we enabled the canopy to retract automatically without any creases in the fabric, creating a seamless, sleek look.

Other key contributions included designing a new garage for the cockpit’s retractable curved glass panels, a hidden fold-out step system providing access to the top of the coach roof, a carbon-titanium code sail shoot, and a crew boarding ladder that mounts securely to the deck bulwark without visible fixings, allowing for quick and safe deployment.

Every detail of this refit was crafted with the same level of innovation and precision that made Aglaia legendary—transforming Anatta into a yacht that blends elegance with cutting-edge technology.
