In 2021, 3DT was commissioned by the iconic M/Y Shemara in collaboration with BM Composites to oversee the design of a new composite funnel. Working on such a distinguished vessel, renowned for its blend of timeless elegance and cutting-edge technology, was a true privilege for 3DT. Built in the 1930s, Shemara represents a pinnacle of craftsmanship and luxury, with a rich history of serving high-profile owners and standing as a symbol of maritime excellence.

The so-called “funnel” is actually not a chimney exhaust but a hidden technical space housing state-of-the-art equipment, generators, and navigation antennas. The original fiberglass structure had been interfering with antenna signal strength, prompting the vessel´s crew to redesign it in a lighter material, improving both signal performance and the aesthetic fairness of the exterior surface.

3DT managed every aspect of the refit, from 3D scanning the original funnel and surrounding area to designing internal equipment layouts, composite engineering of the new funnel, creating tooling designs, and providing on-site installation support.
