When the Lürssen-built yacht Coral Ocean arrived in Palma de Mallorca in 2019, 3DT was presented with the largest refit project the island had ever seen. The transformation of the iconic Bannenberg-designed Coral Sea into Coral Ocean involved a complete overhaul of both the exterior and interior styling, marking a new chapter in the yacht’s history.

​One of the most striking changes was on the sundeck, where H2 Yacht Design introduced a stunning sky lounge complete with automatic doors, expansive glass panels, disco lighting, bars, custom furniture, and an 85” drop-down TV. The new composite navigation mast above the sky lounge not only enhanced the vessel’s aesthetics but also maximized the usable deck space. Additional features, such as a new jacuzzi, glass balustrades, a deck shower, and fashion plates, further transformed the space.

​The interior overhaul, also led by H2 Yacht Design and Sabrina Monte Carlo, was a masterclass in design, with input from the refit team, the captain, and the owner’s family. 3DT was entrusted to support every aspect of the refit, both inside and out, from composite engineering to carpeted surfaces. However, it was the new composite sky lounge and mast where 3DT truly shone.

​Working from styling renders, 3DT developed detailed 3D models, accounting for structure, equipment, pipe routing, lighting, air conditioning, antenna placements, TV housing, sliding doors, glass, and every intricate component. Partnering with BM Composites, 3DT supplied composite construction drawings, tooling design and provided build and installation support.

​In addition to the sky lounge and mast design, 3DT contributed extensive design support across numerous areas of the refit inside and out, notably custom carbon fiber liferaft launchers and a folding carbon fiber navigation mast. Our ongoing relationship with Coral Ocean continues, as we work closely with the crew to provide ongoing design support and updates to the ship’s drawings whenever needed.
